I have worked professionally in photography and video for over 10 years now. Prior to this, however, I had very varied experience. I have always worked with people; firstly as a waitress, then carer and then a support worker for people with long-term mental health problems. I was regularly a harvest supervisor on my dad's soft fruit farm.
Then it was time to travel. I travelled all over the world – around Australia, India, Thailand and Eastern Europe. Again, I absolutely loved meeting new people so knew I would one day want a career where I could do this everyday. When I had my son, 17 years ago, I decided it was time to pave a career for myself back in Scotland and returned to college to study photography and then television production.
Once I completed my course, I set up a partnership with Pete Moran at Keathbank Media working on a broad range of projects with Perth and Kinross Council, RBS, BBC, STV, PKAVS, The Roy Castle Foundation and many more.
It was here that I learned my passion is photographing people either commercially for business, conferences and events or social occasions such as weddings, portraits and special occasions.
I love being outdoors and my Instagram account reflects my active, adventurous personality. Up to now I have worked with some incredible charities and small businesses and I really love it when I can combine photography with being outdoors to convey the place where my clients work as well as what they do.
Now, I’m continuing my journey as Kelly McIntyre Photography and Video and have settled well into my new premises with the Creatives in Nest artist studios in Blairgowrie.
